Dr. Tekiele joined Loden Vision Centers with over 25 years of experience practicing exclusively in an ophthalmology practice setting specializing in the areas of femtosecond and excimer laser refractive surgery care, lifestyle intraocular lens technology and comprehensive medical eye care. Dr. Tekiele earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL.
Following a hospital-based internship at the Cleveland Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Cleveland, OH, Dr. Tekiele completed a residency in Family Practice Optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham/The Medical Center. Afterward, Dr. Tekiele participated in specialized, post-residency training in the areas of therapeutic laser therapy for the anterior segment and excimer laser vision correction at Northeastern University in Oklahoma City, OK and completed training and certification in injection and minor surgical procedures at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.
Dr. Tekiele is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, was an Assistant ClinicalProfessor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham/The Medical Center and past Director of Cornea and Refractive Services at Michelson Laser Vision, Inc. in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Tekiele is a past President of the Birmingham Area Optometric Society in Birmingham, AL and past Chair of the Technology Task Force of the Alabama Optometric Association. Dr. Tekiele has also served as a Clinical Instructor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology and as Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Illinois College of Optometry and Ferris State College of Optometry.
Dr. Tekiele has been a keynote speaker in national, state and local level speaking engagements and a leader in targeted practice consulting in the areas of lifestyle refractive surgery, medical glaucoma, practice management, co-management and refractive business development throughout 23 states over 25 years for private practice ophthalmologists, national symposiums, continuing education programs, hospitals, state optometric associations and co-managing optometric groups.
Dr. Tekiele resides in Nashville with his wife, also an eye doctor, and has two adult children that attend Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC. Dr. Tekiele and his family are very active in their church family where he has served as Deacon, Sunday school and youth group teacher, rotating preacher for care ministries at local assisted-living facilities, AWANA and Chi-Alpha youth programs and member of the choir. Dr. Tekiele is an avid reader and enjoys music, cooking, running, visiting the mountains of eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina, beach vacations in Seaside, FL and boating on Lake Erie.
